CM Manik Saha Reviews Power Projects, Stresses Reliable Electricity Supply in Tripura

Agartala, May 19: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting of the Power Department at the Conference Hall of the Tripura Institution for Transformation (TIFT) in Agartala, directing officials to accelerate ongoing infrastructure projects and ensure uninterrupted electricity services across the state.The meeting, attended by Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath and senior department officials, focused on assessing the progress of key power infrastructure projects, resolving implementation challenges, and ensuring timely completion of works aimed at improving electricity services for residents.
During the review, the Chief Minister stressed the importance of strengthening the state’s power supply network and instructed officials to remove administrative and logistical bottlenecks that could delay project execution. He emphasized that uninterrupted and reliable electricity is essential for the state’s development and for improving the quality of life of citizens.Officials informed the meeting that the state government is currently implementing a ₹1,155 crore Asian Development Bank-assisted project to modernize and upgrade Tripura’s power infrastructure.
The initiative includes replacement of ageing transmission lines and expansion of electricity connectivity in different parts of the state. According to the department, Tripura is presently supplying nearly 457 MW of electricity against an estimated demand of around 362 MW, ensuring adequate power availability across the state. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath assured the Chief Minister that the department is committed to speeding up project implementation and enhancing overall service delivery to meet the growing electricity needs of the people of Tripura.
