Bharatiya Janata Party Legislature Party to Meet on May 10 to Elect New Assam CM

The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party will hold its legislature party meeting on May 10 to elect the new leader of the Assam Legislative Assembly, outgoing Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Friday.
Addressing reporters after reviewing administrative and security arrangements in Khanapara, Sarma said the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will be held on May 12 at 11 am in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sarma informed that the election of the BJP legislature party leader will take place in the presence of the party’s central observer J. P. Nadda and co-observer Nayab Singh Saini.
He further stated that after the BJP elects its leader, the decision will be formally endorsed by the NDA allies in Assam.
In a post on X, Sarma wrote, “The BJP Legislature Party will meet on 10th May to elect the BJP Legislature Party leader for Assam, which will be further ratified by NDA partners, post which the oath taking will take place on 12th May.”
