A solemn “Prabhati Kabi Pranam” programme was organised at Rabindra Kanan in Agartala on Saturday to commemorate the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. The event was hosted by the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs.
Minister Santana Chakma paid floral tributes to Rabindranath Tagore and described him as a timeless source of inspiration whose literary and cultural contributions continue to guide society. She also highlighted Tagore’s role in India’s freedom movement, especially his opposition to the Partition of Bengal and his support for the Swadeshi movement through patriotic writings and songs such as Amar Sonar Bangla.
The minister drew connections between Tagore’s ideas on self-reliance and rural development and the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat promoted by Narendra Modi.
The event also featured cultural performances by children, creating a vibrant atmosphere in the early morning tribute. Departmental officials, including Director Bimbisar Bhattacharya, were present alongside other dignitaries.
