India on Thursday said that Operation Sindoor was a strong and appropriate response to Pakistan’s alleged sponsorship of cross-border terrorism. Addressing the media in New Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that Pakistan has long used cross-border terrorism as an instrument of state policy. He added that India has the right to defend itself against terrorism and will continue supporting global efforts to combat terror activities.
During the briefing, Mr. Jaiswal also spoke on the issue of illegal Bangladeshi nationals staying in India. He said that more than 2,860 nationality verification cases are currently pending with Bangladesh. He reiterated that foreign nationals residing illegally in India must be repatriated in accordance with Indian laws, established procedures, and bilateral agreements.
On the issue of Khalistani groups in Canada, the spokesperson said India has consistently raised concerns over extremist and separatist elements allegedly operating from Canadian territory. He urged the Canadian government to take effective action against anti-India activities being carried out from its soil.
