Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to launch a major boost to city health services with the upcoming opening of the newly built Agartala Civil Hospital, Mayor Dipak Majumder said after inspecting the facility on Wednesday.
Mayor Majumder visited the hospital near Jackson Gate and carried out a detailed review of the construction work and medical preparations. He stated that the hospital is at an advanced stage of completion and AMC is gearing up to open it for the general public in the coming days. The project, touted as Agartala’s first municipal‑run civil hospital, will feature around 50 beds and modern medical infrastructure to ease pressure on existing state‑run hospitals such as GBP and IGM.
Corporator Ratna Dutta, Agartala Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Mihir Gope, and other hospital‑in‑charge officials were present during the inspection. Mayor Majumder reiterated that the hospital will provide free treatment and medicines, along with ambulance services covering all 51 wards of the civic body, marking a significant step toward accessible and affordable healthcare for Agartala city residents.
