BJP Sweeps Dharmanagar By-election with Record Margin

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) registered a resounding victory in the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election, with its candidate Jahar Chakraborty winning by a massive margin. Chakraborty secured 24,009 votes, far ahead of his nearest rivals, reaffirming the party’s stronghold in North Tripura.
According to official results, Congress candidate Chayan Bhattacharjee received 5,903 votes, while CPI(M) candidate Amitabha Datta polled 5,957 votes. Other candidates trailed significantly, with Amra Bangali’s Bibash Ranjan Das securing 273 votes, SUCI’s Sanjoy Chaudhury getting 224 votes, and independent candidate Brajalal Debnath receiving 124 votes. A total of 440 voters opted for NOTA (None of the Above).
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha congratulated Chakraborty and expressed gratitude to the people of Dharmanagar for their overwhelming support. In a message, he said the mandate reflects the public’s trust in the BJP’s commitment to development, peace, and progress, and assured continued efforts toward the constituency’s growth.
Following the announcement of results, celebrations broke out across Dharmanagar, with party workers holding rallies, raising slogans, and distributing sweets. BJP leaders and workers described the victory as a clear endorsement of stability and development-oriented governance in the region.
