Tripura Gramin Bank Registers Robust Growth, Net Profit Jumps 76%


The Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB) showcased robust financial performance and reaffirmed its commitment to rural development and financial inclusion during its Annual Press Meet 2026. Addressing members of the media, the Chairman on Saturday highlighted the bank’s achievements for the financial year ending March 31, 2026, along with its future roadmap.

Established in 1976 with just four branches, TGB has grown into a major banking institution with 150 branches and 12 ultra-small branches across all eight districts of Tripura. The bank’s total business has expanded significantly from Rs 4.52 lakh at inception to over Rs 15,422 crore in 2026, reflecting sustained growth and outreach.

During FY 202526, the bank recorded a 9.49% increase in total business. Deposits rose to ₹10,889 crore, while advances grew by 12.77% to Rs 4,532 crore. The Credit-Deposit (CD) ratio improved to 41.62%, indicating enhanced credit deployment.

On the profitability front, TGB reported an operating profit of Rs 236.10 crore, while net profit surged by over 76% to Rs 184.84 crore. Loan disbursements during the year stood at Rs 2,854.71 crore, underlining the bank’s active lending operations.

Asset quality remained strong, with Gross Non-Performing Assets (NPA) reduced to 2.89% and Net NPA at zero. The Capital Adequacy Ratio stood at a healthy 28.58%, well above regulatory requirements, ensuring financial stability.

The bank continues to play a pivotal role in financial inclusion, with over 5.39 lakh Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts and substantial participation in social security schemes such as PM Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, and Atal Pension Yojana.

TGB has also significantly contributed to rural and economic development by extending Rs 125.56 crore under Kisan Credit Cards (KCC), ₹722.35 crore through Self Help Group (SHG) loans, and ₹229.99 crore under Mudra schemes.

Additionally, it supported entrepreneurship and employment generation through various government initiatives, including PMEGP and Swablamban schemes.

In housing and education sectors, the bank sanctioned 1,101 housing loans worth Rs 260.64 crore and 86 education loans totaling ₹4.58 crore during the year.

Highlighting digital transformation efforts, the Chairman noted the launch of e-Bank Guarantee services, co-branded credit cards with Punjab National Bank, enhanced mobile banking features, and expansion of e-lobbies and Business Correspondent (BC) networks across the state.

The bank also emphasized its corporate social responsibility initiatives, including support for education, sports, environmental efforts, and assistance to underprivileged communities.

TGB’s performance has earned national recognition, including top rankings in social security campaigns, multiple awards, and the prestigious SKOCH Award 2025 for innovative practices.

Looking ahead, the bank aims to strengthen its digital ecosystem, expand credit to agriculture and MSMEs, enhance customer service, and contribute to the vision of a self-reliant India and a developed Tripura.

The Chairman concluded by acknowledging the role of the media in spreading financial awareness and supporting the bank’s outreach efforts, reiterating TGB’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth.
