India tops ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in Cairo with 16-medal haul


India finished at the top of the medal tally at the ISSF Junior World Cup 2026 in Cairo after securing a total of 16 medals, including five gold, six silver, and five bronze medals. The strong performance came across rifle and shotgun events, with two medals added on the final day of competition.

In the men’s 50 metre rifle 3 positions event, India’s Hemant Burman clinched the silver medal with an impressive score of 351.7. The gold medal was won by Kazakhstan’s Oleg Noskov, who set a new junior world record with 355.6 points, while Uzbekistan’s Nikita Sokolov took bronze.

In the mixed trap team event, India’s Zuhair Khan and Addya Katyal secured a bronze medal, marking India’s first-ever shotgun podium finish at the Cairo meet. Hungary claimed the gold medal in the event, also with a junior world record score.

India fielded its largest-ever contingent at the tournament, with 71 shooters competing among 284 athletes from 25 federations, underlining the country’s growing presence and depth in junior shooting on the global stage.
