PM Modi Says Political Change in West Bengal “Imminent”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asserted that political change in West Bengal is imminent, citing trends from the first phase of voting that he claimed indicate setbacks for the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Addressing an election rally in Baruipur in South 24 Parganas district, Modi urged voters to strengthen this trend in the upcoming phases and support the formation of a “developed Bengal.” Speaking as a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, he alleged that infiltration supported by the state government has contributed to unemployment, forcing many young people to seek jobs outside the state.
The Prime Minister also criticized the state government over women’s safety, calling it a matter of concern. Referring to Jadavpur University, he alleged that academic activities were being disrupted and questioned the measures taken by the authorities to safeguard the institution.
Modi further accused the TMC of failing to support backward communities and alleged that it has created obstacles in the implementation of central welfare schemes. Highlighting the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, he said that around 11 lakh LPG connections had been distributed in the district, including 3 lakh to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
He added that the BJP, if voted to power, would continue to work for marginalized sections and ensure effective delivery of welfare initiatives.
