Apr 23, 2026
Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Wednesday visited the Tuirial Airfield site to review plans for the effective utilisation of the old airfield area, officials said.
The proposed development plan includes the establishment of a National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group Headquarters, along with facilities dedicated to sports, youth services and tourism. The project also envisions setting up a large agricultural warehouse aimed at strengthening the state’s agri-sector.
During the visit, the Chief Minister, accompanied by senior officials, inspected portions of land within the airfield premises that are expected to be vacated by the Border Security Force (BSF). These areas are being considered for inclusion in the broader development plan.
Officials stated that the initiative reflects the government’s intention to redevelop the site into a multi-purpose hub that will enhance infrastructure and provide benefits across several sectors. The project is expected to contribute to youth development, tourism growth and improved agricultural logistics in the state.
