Garia Puja brings communities together across Tripura

The vibrant festival of Garia Puja was celebrated across Tripura on Tuesday with traditional fervour and collective enthusiasm, reflecting the state’s rich cultural fabric and communal harmony.
Marking one of the most significant indigenous festivals, people from both tribal and non-tribal communities joined hands in observing the rituals, underscoring unity and shared cultural heritage. Devotional offerings were made to Baba Garia, with bamboo poles adorned with leaves, coloured threads, and pieces of cloth, alongside flowers and fruits.
In Agartala, several community pujas were organised at prominent locations such as Pragati School Ground, Krishnanagar Boys Club, Netaji Club and Cosmopolitan Club, drawing large gatherings of devotees throughout the day.
The main state-level celebration took place at Garjantoli in Teliamura, organised under the aegis of the Jamatia Hoda. Members of various tribal communities participated in the rituals with deep reverence, offering prayers for prosperity, good health and overall well-being.
On the occasion, greetings poured in from dignitaries including Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, who extended their best wishes to the people of the state.
