Moderate 5.2 Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Kamjong in Manipur


A moderate earthquake of magnitude 5.2 jolted Kamjong district in Manipur on Tuesday morning, April 21, 2026, at 05:59:33 IST. The tremor had its epicentre at 24.703° N latitude and 94.415° E longitude, at a depth of approximately 62 km below the surface, according to data from the National Centre for Seismology. 

The quake was felt across Kamjong and adjoining areas, sending residents rushing out of homes and buildings as strong shaking was reported. Despite the intensity of the tremors, there were no immediate reports of major structural damage or casualties. Local administration and emergency services have been put on alert to monitor the situation and respond to any emerging issues.
