India, South Korea Sign Four MoUs to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

India and South Korea on Monday signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across key sectors, including sports, cultural and creative industries, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and industrial development.
The agreements were formalized in New Delhi following talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung. In addition to the MoUs, both sides exchanged a joint declaration to resume negotiations on upgrading their existing Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and unveiled a new framework titled the India-Korea Digital Bridge.
Addressing the media, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that in a time of global uncertainty, the partnership between India and South Korea sends a strong message of peace and stability. He noted that both countries are laying the foundation for deeper collaboration in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and information technology.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the shared democratic values and common outlook of the two nations toward the Indo-Pacific region. He said that bilateral cooperation will expand across diverse areas ranging from technology and manufacturing to energy and entertainment.
President Lee Jae Myung described India as a key leader in the Global South and said that both countries are well-positioned to expand cooperation in defence, artificial intelligence, and shipbuilding. He also underlined the importance of global stability, particularly in light of recent developments in the Middle East.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to boosting bilateral trade, which currently stands at 27 billion dollars, with a target of reaching 50 billion dollars by 2030.
