BJP State President and Member of Parliament Rajib Bhattacharjee strongly condemned a violent post-election attack on the residence of party candidate Abhijit Debbarma in the Jirania area of Tripura, calling the incident a serious threat to democratic values.
The attack reportedly took place following the announcement of the TTAADC election results, when alleged anti-social elements targeted Debbarma’s home. Family members were assaulted and the property was vandalized, sparking concern among local residents and party workers.
Responding promptly, Bhattacharjee visited the affected residence on Monday, where he met the family, assessed the extent of the damage, and assured them of full support during this difficult time.
Describing the incident as “absolutely unacceptable in a healthy democracy,” Bhattacharjee emphasized that such acts of violence would not be tolerated. He warned that those involved in the attack would face strict legal consequences, asserting that no one responsible would be spared.
Local BJP leaders have also urged immediate police intervention, pointing to rising tensions in the region and calling for swift action to restore law and order.
