PM Modi says women participation in policy making strengthens journey towards Viksit Bharat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized that greater participation of women in policymaking and decision-making will play a crucial role in India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation by 2047.
In a letter addressed to the nation’s women, the Prime Minister highlighted that Parliament is set to reconvene on April 16 to discuss a key constitutional amendment related to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which seeks to provide reservation for women in legislative bodies. He expressed optimism that the legislation would be passed and implemented at the earliest.
Modi noted that women across the country have welcomed the prospect of increased representation, calling it an important step towards inclusive nation-building. He added that the successful implementation of women’s reservation ahead of the 2029 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections would make India’s democracy more vibrant and representative.
Stressing the urgency of the matter, the Prime Minister said that any delay in passing the legislation would be unjust to women. He underlined that a stronger presence of women in legislatures would, in turn, strengthen the voice of democracy.
Highlighting the contributions of women at the grassroots level, Modi pointed to the success of Self-Help Groups and initiatives such as “Lakhpati Didis,” which promote financial independence and empowerment. He also noted the growing participation of women in science and innovation, describing it as a positive sign for the country’s future.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the Prime Minister said that long-pending measures aimed at women’s empowerment would be implemented in both letter and spirit.
