Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Emphasises Education Infrastructure Boost in Tripura

Tourism, Food and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday said the state government has placed special emphasis on strengthening educational infrastructure to improve the quality of learning across schools. He made the remarks while laying the foundation stone for a new building at PM-SHRI Raniganj Girls’ Higher Secondary School in Ranirbazar.
Highlighting the government’s initiatives, the minister said 125 schools have been transformed into Vidyajyoti institutions and several others upgraded under the PM-SHRI scheme to modernise the education system. He noted that the objective is to enhance academic standards and prepare students for national-level competitive examinations. According to him, youths from the state are now confidently appearing in examinations like the IAS and achieving success, reflecting positive changes in the education sector.
Chowdhury also informed that the new school building will be constructed at a cost of ₹8.51 crore. He directed officials of the Rural Development Department to complete the project within the stipulated time while maintaining quality standards. The minister also took part in the bhoomi pujan ceremony.
Ranirbazar Municipal Council Vice-Chairperson Prabir Kumar Das, social worker Ranjit Ray Chowdhury and others were present at the programme. The welcome address was delivered by Headmaster Shantanu Dutta Majumdar.
