Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday led a large political rally in Gandacherra, marking a significant moment ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). The event saw as many as 710 people formally joining the Bharatiya Janata Party, giving a notable boost to the party’s campaign in the tribal-dominated regions of the state.
Addressing a sizable gathering, the Chief Minister said that the increasing support from Janajati communities reflects a growing trust in the BJP’s governance model. He stressed that people are now prioritizing development, peace, and long-term stability over what he termed as divisive or ineffective politics. According to Saha, this shift in public sentiment is particularly visible in the areas governed by the ADC.
In his speech, Saha launched a sharp attack on Tipra Motha, accusing the party of failing to deliver transparent governance within the council. He alleged that corruption and mismanagement under their leadership had slowed development in the region, and urged voters to support the BJP for a more accountable and progressive administration.
The Chief Minister further reiterated his government’s commitment to the welfare of tribal communities, highlighting ongoing and planned initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment opportunities in ADC areas. He assured that the BJP government is focused on ensuring equitable growth and uplifting marginalized sections through inclusive policies.
The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents, party workers, and new members, reflecting strong grassroots mobilization. Political observers view the mass joining as a strategic advantage for the BJP as it seeks to expand its footprint in the TTAADC, where regional parties have traditionally held influence.
With election momentum building, Saturday’s event underscores the intensifying political contest in Tripura’s tribal belt, with the BJP positioning itself as a key contender determined to reshape the council’s governance landscape.
