Apr 03, 2026
India secured at least three medals at the Asian Boxing Championships 2026 as Nikhat Zareen, Priya, and Preeti Pawar delivered impressive performances to advance to the semifinals in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
Nikhat Zareen led the charge in the women’s 51 kg category with a commanding display, defeating Philippines’ Xian Baguhin via a first-round Referee Stops Contest (RSC). The Indian star will now face China’s Wu Yu, the Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist, in a high-stakes semifinal bout.
In the women’s 60 kg division, Priya showcased composure and tactical discipline to overcome China’s Chengyu Yang by a 4–1 split decision. She will next face Mongolia’s Namuun Monkhor for a place in the final.
Meanwhile, Preeti Pawar continued her strong run in the 54 kg category, outclassing Mongolia’s Enkhjargal Munguntsetseng with a dominant 5–0 unanimous decision victory. The World Boxing Cup Finals gold medallist is set to take on South Korea’s Im Aeji, a bronze medallist from the Paris 2024 Olympics, in the semifinals.
With all three boxers reaching the last four stage, India has already confirmed three bronze medals and will now look to convert them into higher podium finishes.
