Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday welcomed the passage of the Jan Vishwas Bill 2026 in Parliament, describing it as a major step toward improving ease of living and ease of doing business in India.
In a social media post, Shah said the legislation reflects the government’s commitment to simplifying legal processes and reducing regulatory burdens. He noted that the bill aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a “New India” by making governance more efficient and citizen-friendly.
The Jan Vishwas Bill aims to decriminalize several minor offenses and replace them with civil penalties, thereby reducing the fear of litigation for procedural lapses. It also seeks to eliminate outdated legal provisions and streamline compliance requirements for businesses.
According to Shah, these reforms will make life easier for citizens while creating a more conducive environment for businesses to operate and grow. The government believes the move will encourage entrepreneurship, attract investment, and strengthen trust-based governance.
