Indian para archer Sheetal Devi has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Para Archer of the Year 2025’ award by World Archery, recognizing her exceptional achievements on the international stage.
The 19-year-old athlete from Jammu and Kashmir created history by becoming the first female armless archer to win a gold medal at the World Para Archery Championships. She secured the top spot in the women’s compound individual event held in Gwangju, South Korea, last year.
In addition to her individual gold, Sheetal delivered an outstanding all-round performance at the championships, earning a silver medal in the women’s team event and a bronze in the mixed team category.
Her success extends beyond the World Championships. She also won a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the Paris Paralympics and claimed individual silver medals at the 2022 Asian Para Games and the 2023 Asian Championships in Bangkok.
The World Archery Awards, established in 2011, celebrate excellence and outstanding contributions to the sport. This year’s awards featured eight categories, highlighting the top performers of the global archery season.
Sheetal Devi’s recognition marks a significant milestone for Indian para sports and serves as an inspiration to athletes worldwide.
