CM Manik Saha Hails PM Modi’s Excise Duty Cut
Mar 27, 2026Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday strongly welcomed the Centre’s decision to reduce excise duty on fuel, terming it a timely and people-centric move amid ongoing global economic challenges.
In a statement shared on his social media handle, the Chief Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for demonstrating “exceptional leadership” by announcing a ₹10 cut in excise duty. He noted that the decision would bring significant relief to millions of citizens, especially easing the financial burden on households and transporters affected by rising fuel prices.
Dr. Saha emphasized that the move reflects the Centre’s continued focus on public welfare and sensitivity towards the needs of common people during uncertain economic times.
On behalf of the people of Tripura and the Northeast, the Chief Minister also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for what he described as a “people-friendly initiative” that is expected to positively impact daily expenses and transportation costs.
