BJP Goes All-In for TTAADC Polls, Fields Candidates in All 28 Seats
Mar 24, 2026
The Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections are shaping up to be highly competitive, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announcing a full slate of candidates for all 28 constituencies.
The announcement was made by state BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee, who said the decision reflects the party’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the TTAADC, a key autonomous tribal administrative body in Tripura.
BJP has largely stuck with its sitting Members of District Council (MDCs), making only two changes in Machmara and Manu–Chailengta constituencies. The party had won nine seats in the previous TTAADC elections in 2021 and is now aiming to improve its tally.
Several senior party leaders, including Bipin Debbarma, Bimal Chakma, David Debbarma, and Bhumikananda Reang, are among those contesting.
In a significant political development ahead of the TTAADC polls, two leaders from the Tipra Motha Party—Sadagar Kaloi and Ananta Debbarma—joined the BJP and were immediately fielded as candidates. They were welcomed into the party by Chief Minister Manik Saha.
According to the list of candidates, Rabindra Reang will contest from Damchhara–Jampui (ST), Manju Rani Sarkar from Machmara (Gen), Sailendra Nath from Dasda–Kanchanpur (Gen), Bimal Kanti Chakma from Karamchhara (ST), Esmel Joy Tripura from Chawmanu (ST), Sukesh Datta Barua from Manu–Chailengta (Gen), Bipin Debbarma from Damchera–Kachuchharra (ST), Bhumika Nanda Reang from Ganganagar–Gandachherra (ST), Ananta Debbarma from Halahali–Asharambari (ST), Bimal Debbarma from Kulai–Champabura (ST), Billow Jamatia from Maharani–Teliamura (ST), David Debbarma from Ramchandraghat (ST), Indrajit Debbarma from Simna–Tamakari (ST), Ranabir Debbarma from Budhjung Nagar–Wakkinagar (ST), Abhijit Debbarma from Jirania (ST), Rajesh Debbarma from Mandainagar–Pulinpur (ST), Majee Debbarma from Peku Jarajamejoynagar (ST), Nirmal Debbarma from Takarjala–Jampuijala (ST), Kamruaj Debbarma from Amtali–Golaghati (ST), Amar Jamatia from Killabagma (ST), Samrat Jamatia from Maharani–Chellagang (ST), Padma Lochan Tripura from Kathalia–Mirja–Rajapur (ST), Swadagar Kalai from Ampinagar (ST), Samir Ranjan Tripura from Raima Valley (ST), Abindra Reang from Natunbazar–Malbasha (ST), Sanjib Reang from Birchandranagar–Kalsi (ST), Abhijit Tripura from Purba Maharani–Buralati (ST), and Kanjajong Mog from Silachari–Manubankul (ST).
