PM Modi Marks Historic Milestone with Longest Continuous Tenure in Elected Office

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached a significant milestone in Indian politics, becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government when combining his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India. With over 8,931 days in executive office, he has now entered his 25th year in a leadership role.

Modi began his political executive journey on October 7, 2001, when he assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat. He held the position for more than 13 years before stepping down in May 2014 to take over as the Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014. Since then, he has led the country through three consecutive electoral victories in 2014, 2019, and 2024.

This achievement highlights Modi’s long-standing presence in governance and his sustained public mandate over more than two decades. He remains one of the few leaders in democratic history to maintain such continuity in top executive roles.

Apart from his political tenure, Modi has also expanded his global outreach through digital platforms. He recently crossed 100 million followers on Instagram, becoming the first serving world leader to achieve this mark. His presence on other platforms, including YouTube and X, also continues to grow, making him one of the most-followed political figures worldwide.

The milestone is being seen as a reflection of his enduring influence in Indian politics and his ability to maintain leadership across both state and national levels.
