Minister Urges Forest Protection on International Day
Mar 21, 2026
On the occasion of International Day of Forests, Bhupender Yadav on Saturday urged citizens to take a pledge to protect forests, stressing their vital role in sustaining life.
In a social media post, the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change said forests should not be viewed merely as resources for exploitation, but as essential ecosystems that must be preserved and protected.
The day was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 to raise awareness about the importance of forests. Countries across the world mark the occasion by organising activities such as tree-planting drives and awareness campaigns.
The theme for 2026, “Forests and Economies,” highlights the crucial role forests play in supporting livelihoods, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
