NPP Announces Three Candidates for Assam Assembly Polls
Mar 20, 2026
The National People’s Party (NPP) has announced three candidates for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, marking its second attempt to gain a foothold in the state’s legislative politics.
In a statement issued from the party headquarters in Shillong, the NPP confirmed that Daniel Langthasa will contest from the 113 Haflong (ST) constituency. Ganseng Sangma has been nominated for the 28 Boko-Chaygaon (ST) seat, while former All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam will contest from the 11 Mankachar (General) constituency.
The NPP had earlier contested the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, fielding candidates in 11 constituencies, but failed to secure any seats. With this new list of candidates, the party is once again attempting to establish its presence in Assam’s political landscape.
