A serious allegation of examination irregularity has emerged from Sabroom Higher Secondary School examination centre, putting the future of a girl student under uncertainty.
According to reports, Riya Mog, a student of Dolbari High School, appeared for her Madhyamik examinations at this centre. While she completed her first four examinations without any problem, an alleged irregularity took place on the final day during the Mathematics paper. It is alleged that although she was supposed to be given the standard question paper, she was mistakenly handed the basic paper instead.
Sources said the error was detected only 15 minutes before the examination ended. It has been alleged that after realizing the mistake, the teacher on duty took away both the question paper and the answer script from the student, leaving her unable to properly complete the examination. This has raised fears that she may receive zero marks in the subject, casting a shadow over her academic future.
Local sources have alleged that negligence on the part of the centre supervisor, Pranab Das, and a teacher on duty, Sutapa Pal, a Graduate Teacher of PM Shri Balika Vidyalaya, Sabroom, made the situation worse. They claimed that the responsible officials failed to perform their duties properly.
The incident has also triggered wider allegations of irregularities at the centre. Some locals claimed that certain teachers had long been giving undue advantages to students from their own schools, and even helping them during examinations. However, these allegations have not yet been officially confirmed by the administration.
There are also allegations that after the matter came to light, attempts were made to suppress the issue, further deepening anger among guardians and local residents.
The incident has now raised serious questions over the fairness and transparency of the examination system. All eyes are on the administration to see whether a proper and impartial investigation is conducted and what action is taken against those found responsible.
