BJP Announces Candidates for 2026 Assembly By-Elections

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday announced its candidates for the upcoming 2026 Assembly by-elections across several states.
According to the party, Ritesh Ravi Naik has been nominated from the Ponda Assembly constituency in Goa. In Nagaland, Daochier I. Imchen will contest from the Koridang (ST) seat.
In Karnataka, the BJP has fielded Veerabhadrayya Charantimath from the Bagalkot Assembly constituency, while Srinivas T. Dasakariyappa will contest from Davanagere South.
For Tripura, Jahar Chakraborti has been named as the party’s candidate for the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.
The decisions were finalized during a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of BJP President Nitin Nabin. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior party leaders.
