Tripura presents ₹34,212 Crore Budget for 2026-27, Announces 5% DA Hike


The Tripura government on Monday presented its Budget for the financial year 2026-27, totaling ₹34,212.31 crore, with a projected deficit of ₹240.72 crore. The capital expenditure has been set at ₹8,945.92 crore, marking a 13.19% increase over the previous year.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy highlighted that the Budget is aimed at building a “Viksit Tripura” with a focus on healthcare, education, employment generation, road infrastructure, industrial growth, farmers’ welfare, and the development of Janajati communities.

Chief Minister Manik Saha announced a 5% hike in Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief for employees and pensioners, effective from April 1, 2026. The increase is expected to benefit approximately 1,02,465 government employees and 81,019 pensioners, costing the state around ₹500 crore annually.

The Finance Minister also noted a significant decline in the overall crime rate in the state and outlined several new initiatives to boost tourism. The Budget session, chaired by Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Paul, emphasized inclusive growth, aiming to benefit citizens from all sections of society, including minorities and tribal communities.
