Govt Assures Uninterrupted Fuel Supply; Refineries Operating at Full Capacity

The Government of India has assured that the country’s fuel supply remains stable, with all refineries operating at full capacity and maintaining adequate crude oil inventories. Authorities have emphasized that there will be no disruption in fuel availability for households, hospitals, educational institutions, and other essential services.

Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, said during an inter-ministerial briefing in New Delhi that domestic LPG production at refineries has been increased by more than 30 percent to meet rising demand. She also noted that commercial LPG cylinders have been made available to state governments for priority distribution to consumers.

The government further confirmed that the supply of domestic PNG and CNG for vehicles will continue without any cuts. Retail fuel outlets across the country have been directed to strictly follow dispensing guidelines, with strict action to be taken against any violations.

To strengthen fuel availability, an additional allocation of 48,000 kilolitres of kerosene has been provided to all states and Union Territories over and above the regular supply. States have been asked to identify district-level locations to facilitate efficient distribution.

Meanwhile, alternative fuel options have been activated to ease pressure on LPG supplies. The Ministry of Coal has instructed Coal India and Singareni Collieries Company Limited to allocate higher quantities of coal to states for distribution among small and medium consumers. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has also advised state pollution control boards to permit the temporary use of kerosene and coal by hospitality establishments and restaurants for a period of one month.

In a related development, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, on Thursday, emphasizing India’s priority regarding the safety and well-being of Indian nationals in the region. During the briefing, the Ministry of External Affairs reiterated India’s consistent stance that all issues in West Asia should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
