Tripura Assembly Budget Session Kicks Off with Governor’s Address

The Tripura Legislative Assembly opened its Budget Session on Friday with Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu delivering the inaugural address, highlighting the state government’s achievements, policies, and future plans. The session began with a tribute to former Speaker Bishwa Bandhu Sen, who recently passed away, before adjourning for the day.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy is set to present the state budget for 2026–27, along with revised estimates for 2025–26, on March 16. The session will also see the introduction of three bills aimed at boosting higher education: proposals to establish a Health Sciences University, a Technical University, and a Women’s University.

Debates on the Governor’s address will start on March 18, followed by discussions on the state budget on March 19, with participation from the Leader of the Opposition. The session, running until March 25, is expected to shape Tripura’s fiscal policies and educational development.
