Sumit Antil Wins Gold at World Para Athletics Grand Prix in New Delhi


India’s Sumit Antil won the gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 – New Delhi on Thursday with an impressive throw of 69.25 metres. Pushpendra Singh secured the silver medal with a throw of 56.91 metres, while Poonam Ram claimed the bronze with an effort of 49.48 metres.

India delivered an outstanding performance on the second day of the event, earning several podium finishes across track and field competitions.

In the men’s 400m T13 race, Subodh Bhatt won the gold medal with a time of 51.88 seconds. Priyanshu Kaushik finished second to take silver in 53.19 seconds, while Avnil Kumar secured the bronze in 56.91 seconds.

In the men’s 400m T46/T47 category, Bhavikkumar Din Bharwad clinched gold with a time of 49.89 seconds, while fellow Indian Jasbeer finished close behind to win the silver medal in 50.09 seconds.

India also dominated the men’s 400m T53/T54 wheelchair event, sweeping the podium. Manojkumar Sabapathi won gold with a time of 54.33 seconds, followed by Anil Kumar who took silver in 57.57 seconds. Manikandan Jothi completed the podium with a bronze medal, clocking 1:01.94.

India’s strong performance at the Grand Prix highlights the country’s growing success in international para-athletics.
