Tripura government has officially launched Tripura Women Entrepreneurship Policy 2025–2030 to encourage and strengthen women-led enterprises in the state. Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma has formally launched the policy here in a state-level programme held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Thursday.
Speaking at the event, the minister described the policy as a significant milestone for Tripura’s development. She said the new policy will empower aspiring women entrepreneurs across the state and create a supportive ecosystem for building sustainable enterprises.
According to Chakma, the initiative reflects a progressive vision aimed at providing women with greater opportunities, stronger support systems and a favourable environment so that they can transform their ideas into successful business ventures.
She further stated that the policy seeks to open a new horizon of women-led development by linking women’s empowerment with economic progress. At the same time, it will strengthen the state’s broader goal of inclusive development.
The minister noted that the policy has been designed to address several long-standing challenges faced by women entrepreneurs. Special emphasis has been placed on tackling issues such as limited access to finance, markets, technology and institutional support. The policy also aims to help women transition from informal livelihood activities to organised and sustainable business enterprises, thereby strengthening the state’s economic foundation.
During the programme, discussions were also held on the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises Scheme (PMFME), highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening micro and small industries.
Among those present at the event were Industries and Commerce Department Secretary Kiran Gitte and Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Samir Ghosh, along with senior officials of the concerned departments.
