India Begin Swiss Open Campaign as Prannoy, Srikanth Take Court
Mar 11, 2026
India’s campaign at the Swiss Open 2026 begins today with top shuttlers HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth leading the challenge in the men’s singles category.
Prannoy is set to face Japan’s Koki Watanabe in what is expected to be a high-stakes opening match, while Srikanth will take on Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan later in the evening.
Other Indian contenders in the men’s draw include Kiran George, who will play against Singapore’s former world champion Loh Kean Yew, and Ayush Shetty, who is scheduled to face Canada’s Brian Yang.
In women’s singles, India suffered a setback as two-time Olympic medallist PV Sindhu withdrew from the tournament following a three-day travel disruption in Dubai caused by the West Asia crisis. The situation also forced her to miss the All England Open Badminton Championships.
Meanwhile, India’s Unnati Hooda will face Chinese Taipei’s Chiu Pin-Chian later tonight. Malvika Bansod is scheduled to begin her campaign tomorrow against Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong.
