Rajib Bhattacharjee Raises Demand to Empower Tripura’s Queen Pineapple Farmers in Rajya Sabha
Mar 10, 2026Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Rajib Bhattacharjee on Tuesday raised the issue of empowering farmers cultivating Tripura’s renowned Queen pineapple in the Rajya Sabha.
Highlighting the importance of the crop to the state’s rural economy, Bhattacharjee stressed the need for stronger infrastructure and institutional support for pineapple growers, particularly those belonging to tribal communities.
He urged the government to establish a dedicated pineapple park in the state and develop modern cold storage facilities to improve the storage, processing, and marketing of the fruit.
The MP also called for export incentives to strengthen the global market presence of Tripura’s Queen pineapple.
Bhattacharjee said such initiatives would help enhance farmers’ income, promote value addition in pineapple-based products, and contribute to the socio-economic development of tribal farmers in the state.
