A minor earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale struck West Kameng on Monday at 11:37:58 IST, according to seismic data.
The tremor occurred at a depth of 5 kilometres, with its epicentre located at latitude 27.19° North and longitude 92.43° East. There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties following the quake.
The northeastern region, including Arunachal Pradesh, falls under a high seismic zone, making it prone to frequent minor earthquakes. Authorities, however, said the low magnitude quake is unlikely to cause any significant impact.
