President Murmu Calls for Greater Recognition of Women’s Role in Nation Building
Mar 08, 2026President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday urged society to recognize and support the vital role of women in nation building, emphasizing that India is steadily moving forward with the vision of women-led development.
Addressing the valedictory session of the National Convention of Women Thought Leaders – Bharati: Nari se Narayani in New Delhi, the President called for greater appreciation and emulation of the strength and capabilities of women in all spheres of life.
President Murmu said that women are making significant contributions across every sector in the country—from agriculture to space exploration and from self-employment to service in the armed forces. She highlighted that the government has been implementing several initiatives aimed at empowering women both educationally and financially.
The President also appealed to society to eliminate stereotypes and inequalities faced by women, stressing that equal opportunities and respect are essential for inclusive national development.
She noted that strengthening the position of women will play a key role in accelerating the country’s overall progress and ensuring a more equitable society.
