Meghalaya Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹51 Crore; Two Arrested

The Meghalaya Police on Friday seized narcotics worth over ₹51 crore in East Jaintia Hills district, marking the largest drug haul ever recorded in the state. Two persons from Mizoram were arrested in connection with the seizure, a senior police officer said.
The contraband was recovered during a joint naka-checking operation conducted by the police along with personnel of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) at Ratacherra in East Jaintia Hills.
During the operation, officials intercepted a vehicle carrying three occupants, including the driver. Following due legal procedures, the vehicle was searched, leading to the recovery of the suspected narcotics.
Police arrested two individuals from Mizoram in connection with the case, while further investigation is underway to determine the source and intended destination of the drugs.
Authorities said the seizure represents a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in the region.
