Qatar Intercepts Drone Targeting U.S. Al Udeid Air Base
Mar 06, 2026
Qatar’s Air Defence Forces successfully intercepted a drone targeting Al Udeid Air Base, the largest U.S. military installation in West Asia, the country’s Ministry of Defence announced today.
The drone was destroyed before it could reach the base, which hosts thousands of American and coalition personnel. The Interior Ministry had temporarily advised residents to stay indoors during an emergency alert, but later confirmed that the threat had been neutralized and normal conditions restored.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region, as U.S. military installations across the Gulf have faced occasional drone and missile threats. Al Udeid Air Base serves as a central hub for U.S. air operations in the Middle East, making it a strategically significant target.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation to prevent any further threats.
