Two pilots of the Indian Air Force were killed after a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet crashed in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam on Thursday evening.
The deceased pilots have been identified as Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Duragkar. The Indian Air Force confirmed their deaths and expressed deep condolences to their families.
In an official statement, the IAF said it stands firmly with the bereaved families during this time of grief. Rescue and recovery teams were deployed to the crash site soon after the incident.
The cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed. The Indian Air Force is expected to order an inquiry to determine the circumstances that led to the accident.
