India Proposes Structured Biomanufacturing Partnership with Delaware

Union Minister for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh on Monday proposed a structured partnership between India and the U.S. state of Delaware in the field of advanced biomanufacturing.

The proposal was discussed during a meeting in New Delhi with a visiting U.S. delegation led by Matt Meyer. Dr. Singh suggested the creation of a small joint working group to transform ongoing discussions into concrete collaborations in research, manufacturing, and start-up ecosystems.

Highlighting the importance of science, technology and biotechnology in strengthening the India–U.S. comprehensive strategic partnership, the Minister said India has emerged as a global hub for biotechnology and pharmaceutical innovation. He noted that the country’s capabilities span the entire value chain — from research and development to large-scale, cost-effective manufacturing.

Both sides also explored opportunities for enhanced bilateral cooperation in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, clean energy and innovation-driven industrial growth, with an emphasis on building long-term institutional partnerships between India and Delaware.
