Minister Sushanta Chowdhury Reviews Departmental Allocations Ahead of Budget Session


With the Budget Session for the financial year 2026–27 set to begin on March 13, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism Sushanta Chowdhury on Monday held a crucial meeting with Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy at the Civil Secretariat.

The meeting focused on the proposed financial allocations for the departments under Chowdhury’s charge. Detailed discussions were held on the Revised Estimates for 2025–26 and the Budget Estimates for 2026–27, particularly concerning projected receipts and expenditure across various sectors.

During the meeting, the Minister presented comprehensive data and planning proposals related to Transport, Tourism, and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. He highlighted the necessary budgetary provisions required to implement key schemes and ensure smooth functioning of departmental activities in the upcoming financial year.

The deliberations form part of the state government’s preparatory process ahead of the presentation of the 2026–27 Budget.
