Assam Tracks Residents in West Asia

The Assam government is coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to gather information about people from the state residing in conflict-hit regions of West Asia.

A senior state official said on Sunday that the government currently does not have exact figures on how many residents of Assam are living or stranded in the affected areas. Efforts are underway to obtain verified data through the MEA, which is responsible for India’s diplomatic outreach and the welfare of Indian nationals abroad.

The move comes amid concerns over the safety of Indian citizens in parts of West Asia experiencing unrest. State authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation and will extend necessary support once detailed information is available.
