Afghanistan Calls for Dialogue to Ease Pakistan Tensions

Afghanistan has reiterated its desire to resolve ongoing tensions with Pakistan through dialogue and political engagement, emphasizing diplomacy over further escalation.

In a statement, the Afghan Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi held a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud to discuss recent developments between the two neighboring countries. During the call, Saudi Arabia welcomed Afghanistan’s position advocating dialogue and political solutions to disputes, and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s support for efforts aimed at de-escalation and regional stability.

Muttaqi also spoke with Qatar’s Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, stating that recent actions taken by Afghanistan’s security and defence forces were carried out to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, airspace and territorial integrity. He added that the intended objectives of those measures had been successfully achieved.

In addition, the Afghan Foreign Minister held talks with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan regarding the ongoing tensions with Pakistan.

The series of diplomatic engagements reflects Afghanistan’s efforts to garner regional support and pursue a peaceful, negotiated resolution to its dispute with Pakistan.
