Over 13,655 Assam Artisans Benefit from PM Vishwakarma Scheme


A total of 13,655 artisans in Assam have received loans worth ₹125.34 crore under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Tuesday.

In a post on X, Sarma stated that the scheme is providing artisans across the state with skill development training, modern toolkits, and institutional credit support to strengthen their livelihoods.

He informed that 1.18 lakh artisans have been certified so far under the scheme, while 92,851 beneficiaries have completed training. Additionally, 37,402 toolkits have been distributed to eligible artisans to help enhance productivity and upgrade their traditional skills.

Highlighting the impact of the initiative, the Chief Minister said the scheme is empowering traditional craftsmen by combining skilling, access to modern tools, and financial assistance, thereby contributing to a more self-reliant future for the state’s artisan community.
