India AI Summit a Global Turning Point, Says PM Modi in Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday described the India AI Impact Summit as a defining moment in shaping how the world will harness artificial intelligence in the years ahead. Addressing the nation during his monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat, he said the summit demonstrated India’s growing leadership in the field of AI.

The Prime Minister noted that leaders from several countries, technology CEOs, innovators and members of the start-up ecosystem gathered at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi for the event. He said he had the opportunity to interact with world leaders and showcase India’s technological advancements at the exhibition held alongside the summit.

Highlighting two exhibits that drew particular attention, Mr. Modi mentioned the Amul booth, which demonstrated how artificial intelligence is assisting in animal healthcare and enabling farmers to monitor dairy operations with round-the-clock AI support. He also referred to the digital presentation of the ancient medical text, the Sushrut Samhita, which showcased how AI is being used to enhance manuscript images, convert them into machine-readable text, generate AI-based narration and translate the content into multiple Indian and foreign languages. According to the Prime Minister, global leaders were impressed by India’s efforts to preserve its ancient knowledge through modern technology.

Mr. Modi said the summit, which also saw the launch of three Made-in-India AI models, was the largest AI gathering of its kind and congratulated citizens on its success.

During the broadcast, the Prime Minister also spoke about the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, pointing out the significant presence of players of Indian origin in several international teams. He noted that Canada has the highest number of such players, including captain Dilpreet Bajwa and Navneet Dhaliwal. He added that the United States team, led by Monank Patel, also features several players who have roots in Indian domestic cricket. Players of Indian origin are also representing Oman, New Zealand, the UAE and Italy, he said, describing their achievements as a testament to enduring ties with their motherland.

In the programme, Mr. Modi also highlighted the growing awareness of organ donation in India. He praised the parents of 10-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham from Kerala for donating their daughter’s organs after her death, calling it an extraordinary act of courage and generosity. He further cited examples of transplant recipients who have resumed active lives, including individuals who have undertaken pilgrimages and excelled in sports following heart, lung and kidney transplants.

Emphasising that a single noble decision can transform many lives, the Prime Minister commended citizens who have chosen to support organ donation and contribute to the well-being of others.
