East Khasi Hills Orders Fire Safety Audits Across All Establishments

The district administration of East Khasi Hills has directed that comprehensive fire safety audits be conducted across all establishments in the district following repeated fire incidents.
The order was issued by Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Rosetta Mary Kurbah. In the directive, she instructed that detailed fire safety audits be carried out in residential homes and apartment buildings, commercial shops and markets, hotels and restaurants, educational institutions, hospitals and clinics, government offices, halls, and other public buildings.
The administration stated that the move aims to strengthen fire preparedness measures, ensure adherence to safety norms, and prevent further fire-related incidents in the district. Authorities concerned have been asked to coordinate and ensure strict compliance with fire safety regulations.
