Sensex Rises 317 Points to 82,815; Nifty Gains 117 Points on Value Buying


Benchmark Indian equity indices rebounded on Friday, with the Sensex climbing 317 points to close at 82,815 and the Nifty rising 117 points to settle at 25,571, marking a gain of around 0.4 per cent.

The markets opened lower but quickly recovered as value buying lifted investor sentiment. However, both indices pared some of their intra-day gains toward the end of the session.

In the forex market, the Indian rupee slipped by 30 paise to trade at ₹90.98 against the US dollar.

Global crude oil prices declined in intra-day trade, with Brent Crude falling over 0.5 per cent to $71.25 per barrel, while WTI Crude dropped more than 0.5 per cent to $66.07 per barrel.

In the domestic bullion market, 24-carat gold edged higher to ₹1,56,940 per 10 grams, while silver (999 fine) traded up at ₹2,52,470 per kilogram.
