Mizoram Celebrates 39th Statehood Day; Top Leaders Extend Greetings
Feb 20, 2026Mizoram celebrated its 39th Statehood Day on Friday, receiving warm greetings from the country’s top leadership, including the President, Vice President and Prime Minister.
Droupadi Murmu extended her wishes to the people of Mizoram, describing the state as blessed with pristine natural beauty, a rich cultural heritage and enterprising citizens. She said Mizoram continues to inspire the nation through its remarkable contributions and steadfast commitment to national development. The President expressed hope for the state’s sustained progress and prosperity.
C. P. Radhakrishnan highlighted Mizoram’s abundant natural beauty, diverse landscapes, rich flora and fauna, and extensive forest cover. He commended the state’s high literacy rate and vibrant culture, calling it a model of social progress and community harmony. He wished the people continued sustainable growth and balanced development.
Narendra Modi described Mizoram as widely known for its striking scenery and enduring cultural traditions. Praising its strong community spirit and gracious people, he said their values of kindness and compassion set an example for the nation. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the state would continue to achieve new milestones in the years ahead.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also conveyed his greetings and encouraged the people to uphold the state’s reputation for peace and harmony.
Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda lauded the natural beauty of Mizoram and the industrious spirit of its people, praising the state’s culture of happiness and mutual respect.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said Mizoram’s vibrant culture, unity and strength make it truly special, and wished the state continued progress marked by harmony and prosperity.
Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jyotiraditya M. Scindia described Mizoram’s journey to statehood as inspiring and commended its peaceful environment, extending his best wishes for a joyful Statehood Day celebration.
