Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has been elected as the leader of the party’s parliamentary wing following the 13th National Parliamentary Elections.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BNP parliamentary party held at around 11:30 am at the meeting room of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. Newly elected BNP Members of Parliament (MPs) unanimously chose Rahman to lead the party in the House.
Earlier in the day, BNP’s newly elected lawmakers took their oath of office at the Jatiya Sangsad. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin administered the oath at the Oath Room of the Sangsad Bhaban at 10:43 am.
With his election as parliamentary party leader, Rahman is set to play a central role in steering the BNP’s legislative strategy and representing the party in parliamentary proceedings during the new term.
