In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets valued at approximately ₹45 crore at Mungiakami.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS-01T-C7674. Upon thorough inspection, officials recovered around 4,50,000 Yaba tablets concealed inside the vehicle. Yaba, a dangerous psychotropic substance composed primarily of methamphetamine and caffeine, is commonly trafficked across the Northeast region and poses a serious threat to public health and security.
During the operation, one individual identified as Hafijul Hoque (42), a resident of Udalguri district in Assam, was apprehended in connection with the seizure.
The seized contraband, along with the arrested individual, has been handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and legal proceedings.
